Often we think of boys as being “into cars.” But I’m a girl and I have to admit I’ve always loved vehicles.
In fact, when I was sixteen I specifically learned to drive a stick shift after I bought my first car, a 1968 MG Midget.
Over the years my vehicles have changed from MG’s (I had two) to a Mustang to a Camero….to a Buick and now a Hyundai. Yes, I’ve becoming “old.” lol
In my books the parents of the characters often drive Buicks. I’m not dogging Buicks, the ones I’ve owned have lasted FOREVER (can you beat 370,000 miles and still running)..but most of the drivers seem to be, well, old.
I love seeing what kind of cars the hero and heroine drive in books. I remember when I read a Lisa Kleypas novel where the hero drove a Maybach. I thought it was a made up car until I looked it up and discovered it was a real vehicle (that has since been discontinued by Mercedes). The car ran about $400,000. No wonder it wasn’t on my radar.
Do you like it if specific cars are mentioned in books? Are you a car lover like I am? What as your first car? Can you drive a stick shift?
Let’s chat. I’d love to know!
Everyone who comments will be entered into a drawing to win a copy of one of my Jackson Hole books!!
Check back on Sunday to see if you’re a winner.
