I know, I know. Those of you who KNOW me expect that this blog will be about THE Mouse… aka Mickey and WDW, but it’s not. I’m talking today about my favorite Christmas mouse!

Some years ago (which means I can’t remember when), I bought this cloth Christmas calendar from my local Avon lady. Each year I would hang it on one of my boys’ bedroom doors and they would fight to be the one to move the mouse. Each morning of December, they would try to be the first one out of bed so they could be the one.

As each one moved out, the others would gloat that they were now going to move them mouse. And they did.

But this year, it’s kind of a poignant one since my boys are grown and aren’t here most of the time. So, I’ve had no one to move the mouse. . . .

But, I’m sure it’s only a matter of time before we find another tradition to follow this one — or find someone in the family to move the mouse each day.

How about you? Does your family have a holiday tradition like an Advent or Christmas calendar? Do you have little ones that do the “Elf on the Shelf”? How do you build up excitement to the Big Day?

Maybe it’s Terri’s attempt to continue to countdown the days until Christmas, or just a way to have fun, but tomorrow – December 13th – is her day on the Harlequin Historical Authors Holiday Calendar giveaway!   She hopes you’ll stop by her website to enter her contest (and visit the other authors’ pages, too!)

We have a old countdown to Christmas calendar. It is a wooden Snoopy and you move the wooden star numbers on his dog house every day seeing how close you are to Christmas. My parents bought it for my kids years ago and they still make sure it is out every year. No digital countdown in our house.

That’s adorable! We got an advent calendar this year. Baby Galen wants to open it first thing each day. I won’t allow chocolate consumption until after 10, though!

    1. Bad mommy, Shana. Why can’t she have ten chocolates in one day??? 😆

  3. We have a wooden advent calendar with little drawers for each day that the kids open, I leave them a clue and they have to go and find their advent gift each day. It’s a lot of fun for all of us.

The other thing we do is move our three wisemen around the house as they journey to the manger.

No, my kids are grown, however, I know my grandchildren would love the mouse calendar! Save it for your grandbabies!!

I have that one! It’s presently on my fridge… it is cute and all, but year after year, it just does not come with chocolate every day. Oh well. 😉

I no longer have little ones but I give a tree trimming party every year (and now my oldest has one too).
