There are things that make me happy without much effort, a genuine smile from my husband or son, the sound of my daughter’s laughter while she watches TV. Sitting at my parents breakfast counter and having that first cup of coffee when I’ve been gone from home for a while. I have to be honest in say I’m one of those people with a pretty sunny disposition.
When something bad happens to me I find it easy to look ahead and see the next good thing coming. It is harder sometimes than others but I know this too shall pass.
We had three days of sunshine in the UK from Friday-Sunday. It has been a while since it happened and I was just giddy with excitement. It took me about thirty minutes to unearth my “summer” wardrobe and then I was set to go. Above I’m pictured in my car with the top down. It is ridiculous how happy just driving my car on a nice day makes me, but it does.
I’ve also had a really good book make me so joyful I won’t stop talking about it. I have to say being happy makes me chatty. I want to share the bliss I’ve found with everyone.
What about you? What makes you happy? Do you chat about it or keep it to yourself?
I have an autographed copy of Ready For Her Close-Up for one lucky blog participant today.

Oh, I just love good weather. I live in Texas and it’s safe to say that it’s sunny more often than not. We did get a break from the heat this weekend with highs only in the 90s. That made me pretty happy. Like you, hearing my daughter laugh is enough to brighten my day/week/month/year! Besides that a good cup of coffee will do the trick. I also love a good book, although I dread the end of most of them because I never want the story to end.

Patricia, I dread the end of a book too, especially the first time I read it when I’m just going on the adventure. There’s nothing like the first time I read a really good book!

When the sun is shining and the air is warm, things all seem to be right with the world. My mood has always been influenced by the weather which is why my husband and I moved to Florida when we retired. We love it here and it makes us happy.

Getting together with friends and/or family and especially when we play games or cards. For my me time – it’s reading late at night with cats purring around me. I come from a family of worriers and always looking at the bad side, so I have to really try to stay positive – I don’t always succeed (sigh).

catslady–I forgot about playing games with my family. We play this card game BS which always ensues in a lot of laughing. Surprisingly my mom is the best liar when it comes to this game. My sister and I always team up to try to catch my dad but he’s tricky!

What a nice blog, Kathy! Lots of things make me happy and more than ever, I’ve been trying to focus on them.
Here’s a short, but by no means complete, list: My daughter’s voice and listening to her play the flute. The beach. Typing “The End” on a work in progress and immediately getting a new contract. Corgi dogs. Cool fall weather. Old family photos. Art journaling with my BFF.
Strawberries, champagne, and key lime truffles from Godiva Chocolatier. Paris in the springtime…Paris in the fall. Okay, sorry, I got a little carried away there.
Even writing this list made me smile. Thanks for that!

I also become chatty and love to share it with others!
One of them is meeting new people and recommending authors I’ve read and enjoy. Just yesterday I was at the airport, met 2 nice gals, coincidentally one studies Language arts and loves reading,so I told her about my favorite authors/books and another was a trapeze artist! Though it was very hard talking with the latter one,she was from France. I speak 4 languages but not french. We were communicating as if playing charades. I thought of Nancy R Thompson, but there was no way she could figure out what I was saying so, I drew and wrote places to visit in Orlando, and when I said Cirque de Soleil, She managed to express that that was what she did for a living. So cool!
Another thing is getting discounts when I don’t expect them. ;D I love a bargain!

Yes! I try an recommend who I think the person will like, Nancy for the trapeze artist because of “Angel in Provence”, and Kristan Higgins for the first gal, who I thought would love “Just One of the Guys.” Now, I have to catch up on my author list and read the rest of you lovely ladies

Like a lot of other people mentioned, great weather makes me happy. Since I’m a Texan, this means *cool* weather. the past few days have just be gorgeous! We haven’t had to run the air conditioner and it got down to 51 last night. Heaven!
A good book will also do the trick. A perfectly cooked meal. A great desert. The first sip of coffee in the morning. Yum!

Emily–I barely mentioned food but it does make me happy. My mom’s cheesecake, a perfect slice of french bread–soft in the middle, crusty on the outside. A really good glass of wine. Yum!!!
