Friday Book Lovers Chat

I love being part of the online romance community for a number of reasons. I get to talk about books (love), I get to chat with awesome readers like you (!!), and I get to interact with my favorite authors like a cool, calm professional when internally I’m one big squeeing fangirl. =) To put it simply, I can be both an author and a reader. As a blogger, I also get to talk a lot about myself (which, most of the time, means talking about my kids). ;) But today I want to find out about you!

1. What are the last three books you read that knocked your socks off?

2. Where were you born and where do you currently live?

3. What’s your favorite place to read?

4. What’s your biggest passion/hobby outside of reading?

5. Do you have any other dreams/aspirations?

6. What are three of your favorite hero names?

7. What are three of your favorite heroine names?

8. What are the top three places in the world you wish you could visit?

9. Do you have any special summer plans?

I’ll start! =)

1. A GENTLEMAN UNDONE by Cecilia Grant, SOMEBODY TO LOVE by Kristan Higgins, MARIANA by Susanna Kearsley

2. Born in East Texas; live in Denver, CO

3. The bathtub (my retreat from the kids =)

4. It used to be studying languages; right now it’s taking care of my kids; when they get older I’d like to invest in more volunteer work

5. To be a runner and one day run a marathon

6. Leo, Simon, Frederick (these are actually names I’m using/planning to use for future books)

7. Vivian, Millie, Juliet (same as above)

8. England, Italy, China (this one was the toughest question for me–only three??)

9. Getting SuperGirl and WonderGirl potty trained! (Oh, the glamorous life… ;) )

Now it’s your turn!

Hi Karen! A HUGE congratulations on the requested full from Entangled! That’s so fantastic, and I hope you hear back before the summer ends. =) I also love seeing that you’re in England; I know the grass is always greener on the other side, but I’d love to switch places with you. ;)

        Hi Elise
you know what they say about the grass being greener, well at the moment it’s water logged. I live by the sea and for the last week we’ve had constant rain and howling gales – hard to believe it’s June. So anything warm and sunny is very appealing at present. I’m so thrilled about the request from Entangled. I’ve been writing full time for four years now and I was beginning to get a little discouraged, so my fingers are crossed as are my toes. I’ll keep you posted.

Hi Karen! I so admire all the hard work I know it must take to keep up with the photos and scrapbooking. I bought a scrapbook before my oldest was born and…yeah, haven’t touched it since. =) But I remember my mom giving both me and my brother scrapbooks of some of our big family/personal moments when we each graduated from high school, and it’s something I will always treasure. I hope your kids appreciate it, too. =)

Thanks Elise, I do love it and its very hard to find the time, four kids keep me very busy. Luckily I have a lovely group of friends that get together on Friday nights to chat, eat, laugh and scrapbook so that is a really nice way for me to end my busy week. It hasn’t always been possible for me to go but my youngest is now 5 and its getting easier as they get older. I never get time at home. I used to stress out a lot about having all my photos up to date and stories written down but that is just impossible so I gave that idea away and just ‘go with the flow’….I figure as long as I have a few things for the kids to look back on then that’s something.

Hi catslady! I’ve heard great things about Kathryne Kennedy, although I haven’t yet checked her out for myself. Obviously you agree that her books are great, huh? =)WonderGirl is so in love with kittens in books and her stuffed cats that we’re seriously thinking about getting one for Christmas. Not sure how much our little dog will like that, though. =)

Hi Mel! =D I have to admit, I always think of it as Yugoslavia. And I still think of the Czech Republic and Slovakia as Czechoslovakia–probably because I was so darned proud of myself when I actually learned to spell it correctly, lol. I’m so glad to hear you’re feeling better now! And I admire your green thumb; I had to tell my husband to not even bother buying me flowers because even in a vase they just die after a day, lol.

    LOVED your answers!

BTW: I just started last night reading A GENTLEMAN UNDONE by Cecilia Grant and really loving it so far (but then I’ve always loved complex characters and this book certanly fills that criteria for me).

Well, I think I’d rather do my BBQ’ing then do the potty training! Good luck w/that one :)

OMG! Would love to visit China too!!! Great China wall…but maybe Japan? Okay, so now I think I’m gonna do a bucket list…

OMG! I almost forgot: LEO! I hope you do name your next hero after Galileo!!!

Re: A GENTLEMAN UNDONE. The next book I moved on to, which is by an author I normally love, took me a while to get into the groove of it because I was so blown away by Cecilia Grant’s writing. Note to self: take a couple of days off from reading a Cecilia Grant book so other books will be given a fair chance. =) (And I really want to go back and re-read it now, too!)

I agree that BBQing sounds MUCH more fun than potty training, lol.

I’m still trying to figure out how to make Galileo work… We’ll see. =D
