In which Robyn apologizes and then rambles

Hi I’m Robyn and I’m a slacker. Okay I’m not sure that’s really what it is. I tend to be an organized sort (for the most part) but sometimes when life gets in the way certain things fall to the way side. And I do mean the way behind so-far-out-of-my-vision-I-forget-it’s-there side. Contest prizes that’s what I’m talking about. I love to give away stuff. Contests, free books, gift cards, etc., It’s fun to give things away, but (and sadly this is a very big but!) my trip to the post office often gets derailed.

Right now I’m woefully behind on mailing prizes. Suffice it to say I won’t tell you how far behind, but I haven’t forgotten anyone and things will go in the mail VERY SOON! That is a promise. So don’t give up on me.

But because my blog can’t just be about me apologizing cause that’s lame, let’s talk about something else now. Are y’all as excited as I am about the final Harry Potter movie, parts 1 & 2? I’m simultaneously super excited and kinda sad that the series is coming to an end…yet again. The books ending was rough and now we’ll have to relive the whole experience again through the end of the movies. Still I think it’s gonna be great!

I don’t normally add a lot of tv shows in the new season because I feel like I already watch too much. But this year I started a new sitcom, Mike & Molly and it’s about a couple that meets in an overeaters anonymous meeting and starts dating. Now I’ve heard that this show has caused quite the stir on-line because some people are “grossed out” by watching heavy people make-out. I find this so offensive for a variety of reasons that I won’t get into because we’re not really a debate kind of blog, but it is interesting to me that something I would have thought was completely innocuous would cause quite the stir. The point I bring it up though is because I think this show is totally charming. The fact that these characters are visually “flawed” adds nice dimension to them and it’s a refreshing perspective.

So have y’all added any new TV shows that you’re loving? And what about movies you’re looking forward to it? (I would have given away some contest prizes today, but that would be so expected…but maybe next time…)

I haven’t watched any of the new shows this year, but I can certainly relate to letting stuff go by the wayside when you’re in deadline mode. I’ve had back to back ones this year, totally forgot the summer newsletter, and just got my fall newsletter out.

As to people getting grossed out watching heavy people make out… really — Really???

I haven’t seen M&M yet, Robyn, but I did see that blog that was so offensive. It’s obviously a problem that so many Americans are unhealthy, but saying that watching them kiss is gross…man. I didn’t realize only beautiful or skinny people got to fall in love.

This is the only show I will make sure I’m home for to see on regular TV, as they don’t post it online. It is so cute–sweet. And really funny. I was a little worried after the first episode, but as they go on, they have really caught their stride.

If I have to watch skinny people make out, its only fair we have ONE show featuring people you would actually see in your day to day life. Now I’m rambling.

I watched Mike and Molly a couple of times. I thought it was cute, but I don’t like sitcoms much so I probably won’t watch regularly. Don’t even have a comment for the idiot blogger.

I probably need to add some shows. We just lost Food Network and HGTV because of some cable dispute. Now I have nothing to watch!

I’ve only seen one show – The Walking Dead. The main character is a guy I loved in LOVE ACTUALLY – the one who falls in love with the Kiera Knightly character – and then bows out. The show is pretty good, too (gross and scary :) )

The only new show that I’ve watched is the Defenders and I’m quite enjoying it. My favorite is still Castle with Nathan Fillion :) There are a ton of new movies coming up that I want to see including Harry Potter.

Well, at least Inspector Lynley and Mentalist were new series to me. And I’d like to see the American, mostly because of Irina Bjorklund, the Finnish actress.

There is a show that has had two short summer season runs of 13 episodes (2009 and 2010) that I really enjoyed… and it has a lot of big names in small recurring roles or cameos. And the heroine is plus sized. It’s called Drop Dead Diva and it is a light, funny courtroom type drama. I really enjoyed it and can’t wait for it to start up again in June.

Sorry, hit send before I was finished… the other new show I am really enjoying is Blue Bloods. I love Tom Selleck and this is a good role for him.

Am looking forward to the new Harry Potter film; so sad the books are done and same with the movies once they finish part two of this one.

Read Kathryn in Montreal’s post for exactly what I would have said.
My husband is into The Event, but I’m really tired of that kind of show. It seems like a Lost wannabe.
HBO always has a good string of miniseries and movies we like.
Oh, we just found out about Mad Men which is absolutely great. We’ve been getting the Season One, Two, etc DVD’s and loving it.

The vampire lead from Moonlight, Alex O’Loughlin, is now on Hawaii Five-O, so I have been watching that show this fall.

I’m so excited about Harry Potter that what I most want to do is take a break from the rest of my life and go live in a hotel while I reread all the books. Seriously, if I thought there was any chance my hubby would put up with it, I would ask for a four day vacation. Alas, I know that won’t fly.
But I’m also excited about Mega Mind. I mean, not nearly as excited, but still a bit. I think it’s the baby seal boot line. I don’t know why that’s so funny to me. but it just is.
