Summer usually comes with a rash of great new movies. This year, I’m not so sure. We’ve seen a few, but I’m wondering what you’ve seen and loved – and what you’re looking forward to seeing.
My husband and I saw The Sorcerer’s Apprentice and thought it was a lot of fun. It was a good story that held up well, and the kid who plays the apprentice was perfect. I was afraid he was going to be too goofy, but no. Well, yes he was goofy, but just right, I thought. My kids are not Nicholas
Cage fans, so they’re not really interested in seeing it, even though it’s a Jerry Bruckheimer film. They all went to see Inception, which I think my husband and I will catch at the IMAX. Why not? if you’re going to bother with a 3-D movie, then GO for it, right?
We haven’t seen Despicable Me, which is getting great reviews. Maybe when I get back from conference next week, we’ll catch that one. Has anyone seen the latest Twilight movie? I admit I haven’t even seen the first one, so I have some catching up to do before I can watch the newest release.
I’m not an Angelina fan, so I doubt if I’ll see Salt. What about you? The premise of the story looks interesting, so maybe we’ll go. Along the suspense lines, my book club has been reading The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, and we’re going to rent the movie and see it at my house next month (before we discuss the book). That should be fun.
What about Harry Potter? Is everyone waiting with baited breath for the final two installments? Is anyone else really peeved that Part 2 won’t be released until nearly a year from now? It’s not that I don’t know how it all ends, but WHAT are they thinking? Maximizing profits, no doubt…![Mammoth-book-of-Regency-Romance-113x172[1]](http://jauntyquills.com/wp-content/uploads/Mammoth-book-of-Regency-Romance-113x17211.jpg)
There aren’t really a ton of movies I’m anxious to see this summer. How about you? When I think about all the great books I’ve read – especially the romances with their strong characterizations and plots – I just don’t understand why Hollywood doesn’t adapt more of them into movies. Tell me what book you’d like to see as a movie and I’ll draw one name to receive The Mammnoth Book of Regency Romance, an anthology that features stories by over twenty different authors, including Robyn DeHart and me. I won’t receive my copies until next week – but I’ll send one out to the winner as soon as I get them!

I’m looking forward to Inception…maybe Salt, since I like action flicks. Haven’t seen a romantic comedy advertised this summer, and ro-cos are my fave, of course. We also saw the Sorcerer’s Apprentice (with the kiddies). We all loved it.

I saw Toy Story 3 a few weeks ago and loved it! Great characters, lots of humor, and plenty of wonderful little details that sent me right back to my childhood. I’d see the movie again, for sure. I also saw Sorcerer’s Apprentice and thought that was terrific. I’d see that one again, too.

I haven’t seen any of the new movies yet but would like to see The Sorcerer’s Apprentice so am glad to see everyone here liked it! I did recently rent Hot Tub Time Machine which I did not think I’d like and ended up laughing A LOT!! And then had to tell my sons who are in there 20′s that a lot of it was just too mcuh for me, because, well, there are just some things that you don’t want your sons to know you think are funny!

I haven’t been to see the newest movies. The last one I saw was Letters to Juliet and yes I did like it.
Books that I would love to watch come alive are Julia Quinn’s The Bridgerton series. Georgette Heyer’s: These old Shades. Perhaps Sabrina Jeffries’ stuff or some more Debbie Macomber (christmas-) romances. Kristan Higgins: Too good to be true and a sequel to Confessions of a Shopaholic.

I’m so behind on current release films because I never, ever go to see a movie in the theater. I’m addicted to Netflix and wait until movies are released to DVD. I did just see The Bounty Hunter and that was lots of fun. Love Gerard Butler anyway I can get him!
I have added Salt to my Netflix que because I do like AJ and I think it sounds like a good film. And speaking of Angelina Jolie, did anyone else see Changling, a 2008 film directed by Clint Eastwood? Excellent!

I’ve seen 1 movie in 2010, and it was Eclipse. We probably only saw it because it was opening weekend and we had a babysitter. It was pretty good, but not necessarily the movie I’d pick if I could only see 1!

We don’t go to the movies any more! There just doesn’t seem to be that many goods ones. Something is lacking in the movie world. There are a lot of book I would love to see made into a movie, but the books are always better. I think I would love to see Kaki Warners books Pieces of Sky and Open Country to be made into a movie. I have been on westerns lately and these are great books.

Can you believe the cost of going to the movies these days? My husband and I paid $19 to see Toy Story 3 in 3-D. Wow, right? A good book is a far better value – cheaper AND it lasts a lot longer!!

The last movie I went to see was the A-Team, which I really enjoyed. I’d love to see some of the romances I’ve read as movies too. But one that I think would be awesome would be from Ann Aguirre’s Sirantha Jax series – they’re scifi romance and I think a great movie could be made.

I went to see Eclipse this summer. That is the only movie I’ve seen lately.
I just finished Mary Higgins Clark’s The Shadow of Your Smile. It would make a great movie. All her books would.

We’re planning on seeing Inception on Sunday – it’s my birthday gift from one of my daughters and dinner. Of course my birthday was in November so that tells you how often and how hard it is to get a time to go with everyone’s schedules lol.

Alas, haven’t seen a 2010 movie, not even a second. And you know, I can’t remember what the last DVD I got was. . . must have been Star Trek (2009). But I could be wrong; obviously I don’t shop for movies too much. LOL Have a number on my wish list, but when funds are short, given the choice, I’ll go to the bookstore first (or, stay in book section versus peeking in their movie section).

I totally love Netflix for getting movies I missed seeing at the theater. I only get 2/month – which is more than enough for us! (And cheap, too! something like $5). The disc sits there waiting, and when we have an evening with nothing going on, we can slip it in.

I haven’t been to the movies in too long! As for what book I’d like to see made into a movie…hmm…there are several YA books out there that would make good movies, like Shiver, Shade and Hush, Hush, and I think Marilyn Brant’s According to Jane would make a good movie, too.
