As some of you know, I’ve been fighting bronchitis and a sinus infection for almost two weeks. I’ve continued to work and I’ve discovered something…it seems like everyone I interact with has this crud or knows someone who has it.
In my day job I talk to a lot of people on the phone. When they hear my voice (which doesn’t sound normal–this makes sense to me since I don’t sound normal. My one ear is plugged and I feel like I’m talking into a tunnel)…they always make some comment..or they sound funky so I make some comment. Before you know it we’re talking about everything from the high price of antibiotics to doctors.
This reminds me of other times in our life that we have an instant bond with people. Like when you’re dating–people want to exchange dating horror stories, When you’re engaged, they want to talk about wedding plans and wedding horror stories. Then when you’re pregnant… well, you get the picture.
I’d be interested in knowing what kind of stories you’ve been exchanging recently with the people in your life. If not, I could tell you about my $75 copay on my second antibiotic (only ten pills)

I hope you feel better soon! I get sinus infections a lot living in the Ohio Valley region, especially with weather changes. I was so sick of paying the copays too, so finally my doctor gave me home remedies: 2 sudafed + 1 mucinex and rub vicks vapor rub on the soles of your feet before a nap/bed. let me know if you try it??

Cindy, I hope you are feeling better soon. I went to the dr. yesterday, but mine is just viral, so I only got some ear drops for my earache and a suggestion of sudafed. Yeah, well, here in Iowa, you’re only allowed to buy a certain amount of it within a 2-week period, so that doesn’t help much.
My parents are having health problems, so my two sisters and I have a once-a-week three-way call to discuss what’s going on. Other stories I’m exchanging are with other teachers about school, administration, parents
, and other school “stuff”.

In Texas, we’re mainly talking about the weather. We’re used to t-shirts and shorts in February.

Sorry you’re still fighting all that crud, it has to be miserable. I’m expecting my second child right now so a lot of conversations have revolved around pregnancy and childbirth lately. I’m in Texas too so the wet, cold weather has definitely been big topic as we’re all getting sick of it at this point.

So sorry you’re not feeling better yet, Cindy! I hope your second round of meds works, though.
People have been fairly healthy around here – at least in my circle. And we haven’t had much interesting weather to talk about. On the contrary, our winter has been very mild – temperatures as well as snow fall (we’re below average).
Feel better!

Hi Cindy, I met up with my old college room-mate Maura yesterday. We were talking about how I had met an ex-boyfriend of mine because Maura is always late for everything.Years ago, Maura had set me up on a blind date with a friend of a friend called Ciaran,he sounded like a God of a man, the description reminded me of a young James Dean. I agreed to this for various reasons mainly because I’m a romantic at heart and thought ‘this could be it, my soulmate’.I had made a deal with Maura that she would join me after an hour in the pub and I’d give her the nod I.E whether he was a keeper or whether an “emergency” warrented my escape. I was supposed to meet him at a certain pub, a bit dingy for my liking but I thought what the hey, how bad can it be. I arrived at said venue only to find out Ciaran had a dose of the flu and sent his uncle along instead. I was 19 at the time and common sense should have told me to leg it, but I decided to take a risk. Martin the uncle was 55, 5ft 2inch in height and possibly width too. The pub was a dive and stunk for BO and old mans underwear(what I assume old man’s underwear smells like). Martin was delighted with himself and told me that he was so happy cause he doesn’t like skinny women.nice. I decided to give it an hour and make my excuses and leave when Maura came. An hour went into two hours, Martin was plastered drunk, and no sign of Maura. As a band started in the pub Martin got up to dance and you can imagine my absolute horror as his leg started to work its way out of his pant leg. Apparently he had lost a leg in an accident and when he got sweaty his false one sometimes fell off!! Being 19 I thouhgt my life was going south by the minute. I hightailed it to the loo and saw a window leading out onto a nearby football pitch. I jumped onto a sink threw my purse onto the ground and proceeded to shimmy my way through the window. Alas, my size 12 arse refused to squeeze itself through the size 8 window.20 minute later Maura showed up to find the fire brigade cutting me out of the window and martin screaming abuse at my butt in the ladies toilet, waving his prostetic leg in the air. As for Maura’s lateness helping me meet a boyfriend, a certain fireman and I hit it off and dated for nearly two years.Ah good times, good times. Hope you are feeling better soon. Being sick really makes you appreciate your health doesn’t it.

Tonya,
Thanks for the home remedy. I haven’t tried it yet…but I will!
Deb,
I think I could use some ear drops, too. I feel like I’m talking into a bucket.
Romantic Girl,
Congratulations on the upcoming blessed event.
Margo,
You are sooo lucky. Better than normal weather and no crud…so not fair…
Michelle,
That story is hilarious. Makes me wish I’d asked people to blog on their worst “date” stories. Yours is soooooo funny. Of course I know it wasn’t funny at the time…but still, you got a great story out of the experience.

Hugs, Cindy, hope you feel better soon. Paying that much to be ill is a real ‘pill’.
All the talk around here has been the recent snow – deliveries couldn’t get within half a mile of our village, so we had to trudge through the woods with sledges to collect from the crossroad. We’ll all be dining out on that for years – so Michelle’s brilliant story was a real antidote to winter gloom!

Christina,
Thanks for the good wishes. I’m now…FINALLY…about 75% back to normal.
Now if it would just get warm and quit snowing…
Yep, that’s me, I want it all.
