I must take a fresh look at my desk and find an organizational stragegy that works for me. Robyn, I hear you about the deadline and research books! That's when most of my research tomes land on my desk, too, as I double check facts and historical details. Paula R, I'm so glad you stopped by! I like the idea of sitting in a chair to write. If it is, I go right into procrastination station; and I could be there for days, months even. So, when I finally do get disgusted with myself, and clean, I don't use the desk anymore. Our whole world right now is messy simply because we're living in a very small space with too much stuff and not enough storage. When we finally get into our new house then I'll be able to get us organized again. As for a messy desk though, I'm usually pretty good except those last few weeks before deadline when I pull out a ton of research books to check up on facts and I tend to get a pile of books circling my desk and the top is covered with post-it notes and manuscript pages. There's only one way I know to stay organized and that's to constantly keep up with it. Everything has a place or you need to make one for it.
