My New Favorite Thing

A silly post today — because I need to be a little silly right now. I thought I would share with you one of my favorite Christmas gifts of this past holiday season.

Yes, it’s a backpack. A YODA backpack! This was from my wonderful hubby who knows that Yoda is second only to Chewie in my heart (I’ve since learned that there is also a Chewie backpack out there!). This sweet little thing actually has a lot of room for stuff — so many novelty bags don’t. You can put his hood up in bad weather, and he looks adorable. When you put him on it’s just like the scene out of the Empire Strikes Back when Luke is running through the swamp with Yoda hanging from his shoulders. In fact, his little legs have straps too so you can hook them around your waist. He really looks like he’s hanging on.

If only they’d put in one of those sound chips with recorded sayings from the movies. Then, this gift would be cooler than Shatner.

So, now at 38 I get to have my own Yoda, something I’ve wanted since I first saw the little green guy and fell in love. Lucas really knew what he was doing when he created Yoda — and the genius of Frank Oz made the diminutive Jedi a character rather than just a muppet. Perhaps Lucas should have gotten Oz to work on Jarjar? (Meow!)

Anyway, Yoda was probably my favorite gift this year (along with everything else Steve got me, fabulous, generous man that he is). And I am not ashamed to tell you that I will wear this backpack. In fact, those of you who attend RWA in Nashville this July just might see my Jedi master in person! I think Yoda’s a lovely addition to my growing purse/bag collection, which also hosts likenesses of Cookie Monster, Ernie (as in Bert &), Scooby Do, and Eeyore (and many more!).

Did you get something this Christmas that really rocked your socks? Maybe not this Christmas, but another year? Or maybe you have a fabulous collection you keep adding to? Share! Share!

Oh, and happy 2010! I hope you all have an amazing year!

I am always cold, especially when I write. I keep an electric blanket in my office, blanket in my car, I even have a snuggie! BUT this year my husband, also a sweet heart, got me a couple of pairs of footie pajamas. Not just any footies, he got me schnauzer footie pajamas! We have two schnauzer dogs. They can walk on their own now…

Very cute, Kate! I’m looking forward to checking out Yoda in person this summer!

I think I’m the most difficult person to give a gift to, but my family sure came up with a few good ones. One of my favorites is my new iTouch. Love that thing!

I love the Yoda, Kate! So cute!!!
This isn’t a Christmas present, but it’s in keeping with the theme. This fall, when The Geek got back from his trip to Lego headquarters in Denmark, he brought me a Lego Chewbacca keychain! It’s too funny. I just love it!

Now I have to go to conference just to see this backpack. It’s adorable! My favorite gift was diamond and sapphire earrings that match my diamond and sapphire necklace.

I am seething with jealousy, Kate! Then again, I did receive a little something in my stocking from that master of romance I married…a fruit fly trap. More on this in some other post, no doubt…

Oh my gosh, he’s so CUTE! What a great present, Kate! One of the best presents I got this year was one I bought myself. It’s a pair of double-layer gel socks from Bath & Body Works. They are so soft, snuggly, warm and make my feet feel *wonderful*. I liked them so much I went back and bought three more pairs! :)

Mmm. I’m loving the idea of wearing nice jammies with gel socks and diamonds and sapphires! lol. Lovely gifts. Margo, I want to hear more about the iTouch sometime. A friend has one and loves it.

That is so adorable. My husband has a little statue at his computer desk of Yoda with a dried raisin in his ear – I’m not suppose to ask lol. Besides books, I like all things cats (could you guess lol). Having a cat calendar is a necessity but my family has a fit because I will keep up the kind that the page changes every year (I have two at the moment) even though the year is wrong. So this year I ended up with 4 new calendars. they surround my desk area. My son-in-law says everyone is enabling me hahahaha. Next year I probably won’t receive any and will have to get my own lol.

You have an Ernie one??? I’m utterly jealous now. . . With the Star Wars ones I’m pretty sure I saw a Vader one; if not the backpack, a Vader something, and I definitely like Vader somethings, like I do Ernie and Donald Duck somethings. :)

Oh Kate, I love it! Can’t wait to “meet” him in Nashville. lol I got several favorite things for Christmas (in addition to my usual favorite thing, B&N gift cards): a Snuggie, both Glee CDs, and a hot pink and black bowling ball with matching bag and shoes. I am stylin’ it at the bowling alley. ;-)
