Tis the time of year for radio stations to start playing Christmas carols. With snow on the ground, I’ve found myself finally in the Christmas spirit. I’ve started turning to the radio stations that play Christmas songs 24/7.
I thought it might be interesting for us to share what songs we hope to hear when we tune in those stations. I have to admit that the two songs I’m about to give you are as different as night and day. The first is Mary, Did You Know? I love the melody and the lyrics and I haven’t heard it at all this year.
The other song I’ve heard twice so far this season.
The lyrics and melody are catchy and the song always bring a smile to my lips.
Okay, your turn….what are YOUR favorite Christmas songs?

I love that sone Grandma got run ove by a Reindeer it is so cute. I just got the Toby Keith’s CD Christmas to Christmas and it has some beautiful songs on it. The first song is Santa I’, Right Here and if you listen to the word to this song it will tare you up. All the songs on this CD is fabulous, but I guess you got to like country music to enjoy it.

Mary, Did You Know is also a favorite of mine. The Gift (Garth Brook sings it) about “a poor orphan girl named, Maria” and the last line is “the very first nightingale song” puts me in tears every year but I love it.

What’s the name of the song that starts, “The weather outside is frightful, but the fire is so delightful…” That’s my favorite this year.

My two favorites are the Christmas Waltz by Nancy Wilson and Wrappings by The Waitresses. I’ve loved the one by the Waitresses for a long time, but haven’t owned it until this year, when I finally broke down and bought it on i-Tunes. It’s so sassy and romantic.

Shana, your song is “Let It Snow.” A great one! My favorite is O Holy Night for hymns…Jewel does a beautiful version. For fun, it’s Elvis Presley’s Santa Claus Is Back In Town. Only he could make Christmas sound so naughty!

I’m loving BLUE CHRISTMAS by Celine Dion, and there’s another one – a country-western version that’s on my iPod, too, by Jewel. Both are really different versions of the same song, and are really good!

I like Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas. My first time hearing it may have been on Sesame Street many years ago. Bert and Ernie sang it.

Quilt lady–I’m going to have to check out the Toby Keith Christmas album. I love his music.
catslady–I haven’t listened to The Gift is a while, I’m going to have to check it out on You Tube.
Shana– I like that one, too, but I can’t listen to anything that talks about the snow right now…too much of it on the ground.
Margo– Blue Christmas??? Another one for me to check out.
Diana– Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas is such a sweet song. Thanks for reminding me of it.
Emily– thanks for the heads up about Wrappings. I went to You Tube and listened to it! I loved it.
Kristan– Jewel, eh. I’ll check it out!

I prefer the classics…Bing Crosby, Dean Martin, Perry Como, Rosemary Clooney, Elvis, etc. I never get enough of Bing Crosby’s White Christmas (though living in TX have never actually seen one). Let It Snow, Winter Wonderland, I’ll Be Home for Christmas are some of my faves. Oh, and Santa Baby by Eartha Kitt.
