Originally, this was going to be an ‘Are you a John Girl or a Paul Girl?” post. But my daughter demanded equal time for George. And I couldn’t leave out Ringo… So, why not? Let’s talk about the Fab Four. Who isn’t these days, with all the hubbub over Beatles Rockband and their remastered music flooding the airwaves?
Usually, shameless commercialism has me running the other way, but being bombarded with Beatles tunes has reminded me how much I love their music and what an impact they made. So, it begs the questions: Have the Beatles had an impact on you? Who’s your favorite and why?
Me? I’m a John girl. Always have been. Always will be. See, I’m a sucker for cool guy with a cheeky sense of humor. Someone who marches to his own tune. In my single days, guys like John won my heart hands down over sweet, cute guys like Paul. I remember clearly where I was when I heard the news that John Lennon had been killed. I cried, listening to his newly released Double Fantasy (Watching the Wheels was my teenage anthem). I still get wistful wondering what he might have done had his life not been cut so tragically short.
Who’s next? Who’s your Beatle and why?

It’s Sir Paul for me, Nancy…when he played Maybe I’m Amazed at the Superbowl a few years ago…when he’s shown watching a Yankees game…he still has that sweet boyish quality about him. I always thought George was the coolest Beatle, though.

Hmmmm……guess I’m the party-pooper, I can’t stand The Beatles. Maybe I missed it since by the time I was born, group was no more. Still there was a group of kids in high school that were all ga-ga over their music and I just didn’t get it. It doesn’t move me. So no Beatles fever for Robyn. Now the Eagles, that’s a whole different story.

Paul from the first second.
Just melted every time I heard or saw him.
And obviously, he’s got staying power.

Like, Robyn, I’m not much a Beatles fan myself. (Maybe that’s why we bonded?) I grew up in the eighties, so I’m all about the cheesy pop bands like Duran Duran and Rick Springfield.
Now my sister and her husband decided when their kids were young that they wanted their kids to be exposed to Beatles music. Neither of them were big Beatles fans, but I guess they figured the Beatles are always cool. So now their twelve year old kids are big Beatles fans. I’m thinking I might do the same thing. Hey, it’s better than listening to Alvin and the Chipmunks.

Paul, definitely.
I just read Hard Days Write book. It was interesting to read the stories behind the songs.

Nancy, I don’t think I can choose . . . Can I say they’re all my faves?
Thanks to your post, I have “we all live in a yellow submarine” going around and around in my head.

I always felt sorry for George lol he was so quiet. Paul got most of the attention. Ringo was goofy and John I liked until Yoko Ono came into the picture. I really love their music but I guess I just wasn’t into the screaming fan syndrome like some of my girl friends.

Kristan and Rainy, yes, hats off to Sir Paul! I must admit, I nearly wore out the Red Rose Speedway and London Town albums.
Robyn, who’s your favorite Eagle? I’m a huge Don Henley fan. One of the best concerts I’ve ever seen.
Margo, you and my daughter are holding up the George corner!
Emily, I’d take the Beatles over Alvin and the Chipmunks any day!
Quilt Lady, you have such good taste!
Mina, I’ll have to check out Hard Days Write I always love knowing the story behind the songs.
Catherine, all together now – we all live in a Yellow Submarine.
Catslady, I don’t blame you one bit for not falling into “screaming fan syndrome.” Several years ago, I took my daughter to a Back Street Boys concert. It wasn’t the loud music that nearly made me go deaf. It was the screaming girls.

I don’t think I can choose either although when I was younger Paul was the one for me but as I got older I loved them all and have a lot of the Beatles albums and albums from Paul John and George but not Ringo and some of their CDs that came out much later and play them all the time I love their music.
Have Fun

I love the Beatles, and John is my man. Heart heart heart.
As much as I adore their music, I cannot stomach the idea of purchasing any of their music ONE. MORE. TIME.
I have decided, though, that once I have kids, that’s what they’re going to listen to as long as I have control of the cd/mp3/whatever player. Beatles, old school Disney, and Broadway musicals. I had much younger siblings and I’ve been sick of Wheels on the Bus and Raffi and anything of that ilk since I was ten.

Toss me in with the George girls. Not sure why, but it probably has something to do with him being the ‘dark horse.’
