LOL Wednesday

I considered writing something deep and meaningful for today, like maybe discussing my husband’s birthday tomorrow and how morose he is about turning *cough cough* years old, or perhaps share some of the joys and sordid details as we begin potty training our toddler.

But, no. Anne got me hooked on checking out LOL Cats on my lunch break, which turned into a gateway for getting hooked on LOL Celebrities. Blame these on Anne. :-) Shall we begin?

(Please note: my selection of which pics to share today was not at all influenced by Robyn’s post yesterday. Nosirree, not at all. Ahem.)

Below might be tough to read on some monitors. “Charisma: When you never shower, you’re always drunk, and you prance like a fairy — and women still think you’re sexy.” If I knew how to make these, I’d redo this one.

Okay, I did have to throw in a LOL Cat.

I have mixed feelings about the movie Chocolat. Juliette Binoche’s Vianne annoys me in that she doesn’t show much character growth — she runs away again at the end — but I love Dame Judi’s character. Oh yeah, and there’s this gypsy named Roux…. When you see Johnny playing Minor Swing, that really is his playing you hear, not some other musician.

I debated adding this one, since we generally try to keep things rated PG or above ’round these parts, but since the pic was published in People or some such mag, I decided to share. He’s relaxing on his yacht while filming Pirates II and III. (Note the skull-and-crossbones motif on his bandanna. You did see the bandanna, didn’t you?)

Question

A British reporter once asked JD on camera “Boxers or briefs?” He ducked his head, grinned, and declined to answer. I think we now know the answer is … neither.

Have a good day!

I know I’m in the minority here, but (though I do think Johnny Depp is sexy) I don’t think Jack Sparrow is sexy at all. Will Turner, on the other hand, I find completely irresistible.
I think it’s that protective thing we talked about yesterday. He’s so protective of Elizabeth. And she’s the only woman in the world for him.
Personally, I didn’t like what they did in the second movie with their relationship, so I prefer to pretend the story stopped after the first movie.

I’m not so taken with JD. I thought he was cute in Benny and Joon, and interesting in Chocolat. Creepy in Charlie and the Chocolate Factory (but that whole movie gives me the creeps). Just don’t get the sex appeal.

But I love your LOLs, Shirley! Especially the first one!

Emily, I think you’d like the way they resolved the love story by the end of Pirates III. Elizabeth didn’t love the pirate Jack so much as she wanted to BE a pirate. And I don’t think Captain Jack is “sexy” — it’s more like the affection I have for Bugs Bunny and Pepe Le Pew, the trickster and the self-deluded lover. Will Turner definitely has potential (as we see at the end of III) but he’s so young. There’s a reason most romance novel heroes are closer to 30 than 20.

Margo, you need to see the love scene on the balcony between JD and Charlize Theron in The Astronaut’s Wife. Sizzles! No, he doesn’t have the chiseled abs of Ryan Reynolds; it’s more of a charisma thing. Have you seen Don Juan De Marco?

Shirley, I saw Don Juan de Marco years ago – it’s one of my hubby’s favorites! But I have this thing about straggly facial hair. Can’t stand it, and JD always seems to have it. Yuck.

He’s clean-shaven as John Dillinger in Public Enemies, in theaters July 1. I’m excited except I know how Dillenger died. My biggest complaint about JD is that he doesn’t pick enough roles where his character gets the HEA.

Oh, Margo, I’m *so* with you on that. Give me a full beard or just shave. That scraggly stuff just doesn’t seem manly.
