When I received my order from Omaha Steaks, included in the package was a set of nine “conversation cards.” Apparently these questions are a great way to start the chit-chat, so I’m pulling them out to see if they work.
The question I picked seemed appropriate considering what my daughter and I were discussing this week. She was telling me about a co-worker who’d just started dating a new guy. Okay, nothing too exciting there. But apparently the guy lives in an old house that was originally built to be a hospital in the late 1800′s. I saw a picture of the place and it’s very cool. Even better, the place is supposedly haunted. Can you see where I’m going with this?

This weeks’ conversation card question is:
Do you believe in ghosts? Have you ever seen one?
If you asked me this question at a party, I’d have to say. Yes, I believe. No, I’ve never seen one.
Okay, so supposing I asked you this question at a party and we both believe and neither have seen one. Yawn. Conversation hits a big dead end.
So, I mentally pull out another conversation card and hit you with “If you could go anywhere in the world, where would it be?”
What would you tell me??

I go between Paris and Rome, depending on when you ask me but since I just saw a picture of the Eiffel Tower on my friend’s (who lives in Paris) blog, I’m leaning towards Paris at the moment.

I’d have to say the Highlands of Scotland or to Italy. I have wanted to visit both places for a long time now. I especially love reading about Scottish Highlanders and so I guess I’ll have to say Scotland first. The beauty of it(pictures I’ve seen ) makes one want to go and experience the magic and wonders of Scotland.

I’d go somewhere tropical with white beaches, startling blue water, palm trees, and pina coladas. That sounds really good to me right now.

Okay, so far we have Paris and Rome, Scotland and somewhere tropical with white beaches.
These all sound good to me. I’ve actually been to all these places and they are definitely worth the trip.
My favorite parts of each location:
Scotland- I loved the castles and the people. I hope to someday go back and rent a car and drive all around the countryside, taking as much time as I want at each location.
Rome- the Collisium is definitely memorable.
Favorite beach- Trunk Bay in St. Johns. Warm, turquoise water, white sand that goes all the way out and sun, lots of sun.
If any of you have visited these places, I’d love to hear your thoughts.
And, I’d like more contributions on where you’d like to go….if you only had the time and money.

Solveig,
I’ve always wanted to go to Egypt and see the pyramids. All the unrest in Egypt make me hesitant, but it is definitely on my want-to-go list to!
BTW, I understand the economy in Iceland is struggling? Has it affected you at all?
I love these conversation starters. Makes me feel like we’re standing with a glass of wine in our hand chatting.

Yes Cindy. Unfortunately the whole nation is on the verge of bankruptcy due to the greed and stupidity of very few. My family has not been affected yet, we still have our jobs and we did not take any risky loans to buy our car and apartment so we are fine as yet. But a lot of people have it very bad, especially those who took loans in foreign currencies. My family will be fine this year but next year is a blank slate. No one knows what will happen. For the first time in Icelandic history there have been riots and demonstrations every weekend in front of our parlament. It does not look good.

Hi Cindy Kirk
To name a few of the things that happen there, Once I was walking down the long hall way and I heard foot steps behind me then on my right side I look and saw this flog color shape of someone and then they ran ahead of me very fast and was gone. Another time this young man and I were working on another ward we started to go down the hall way where the rooms are and all the little pictures down the hall were all turn on there side He would not go down the hall he left I stayed and turn every picture right and they stayed there. The thing that got me really bad I was at the nurse’s station just finish the logs behind me was just a wall when a very loud bang it the wall and the desk and chairs shook bad it scared me so bad I went to the head nurse shaken and I left I would not work that one again. Some of the other nurses said they have seen things being thrown on the same wall all kinds of things.

Quilt Lady—I’ve got you down for Ireland and Scotland….I think we could get quite a group together to go to those countries. Help yourself to appetizers and a beverage.
Mary M–would you like an appetizer to go with your glass of wine? Anyone bring a good appetizer that Mary might like?
Solveig–I’m so sorry to hear of the troubles your country is experiencing. When I was there several years ago, I remember the warmth and friendliness of the people and I hate it that such a beautiful country is hurting. You get two appetizers & whatever you want to drink.
Penney, Your story made the hair stand up on the back of my neck. I wouldn’t have gone back to work on that ward either. Interested in something to eat or drink?
Wow, these conversation cards certainly liven up the party!

Can anybody tell us what there is to do there…other than eat? Although food is always a good, reason to go somewhere.
