A Royal Celebration

Written by Nancy Robards Thompson in Jaunty Post

This month marks the release of my first Silhouette Special Edition, Accidental Princess!  To celebrate, I’m going to give away a prize… read on to find out how to win…

But first, here’s the back-cover copy for Accidental Princess:

Once Upon a Time… a struggling single mother found out she was really a princess in disguise. Except Sophie Baldwin outgrew that fantasy a long time ago. She wasn’t sure she even believed in “happily ever after” anymore. Until a handsome stranger showed up on her doorstep and whisked her away to an exotic kingdom…

Luc Lejardin had been dispatched to bring Sophie to St. Michel to take her proper place among the French royalty. As next in line to the throne, she needed his protection 24/7. But watching over the reluctant royal was proving Luc’s most challenging mission. How could he keep his mind on business when all he wanted was pleasure…in the princess’s arms?

At one time or another, most little girls dream of being a princess.  Sometime before they hit the teenage years that innocent fantasy gives way to reality.  That’s how it happened for my heroine Sophie Baldwin, who decided early in life she didn’t need a crown to make a difference.  Still, somewhere along the way, her drive to change the world became an uphill battle.  Thank goodness a twist of fate and a gorgeous man named Luc Lejardin helped her realize life still held all sorts of possibilities.

I’m a firm believer that each woman should hold onto the princess dream. Even if we’re not of royal blood, each of us is unique and special in our own way. In celebration of that, tell me how you honor your inner princess – whether it’s a long, hot bubble bath or treating yourself to your favorite cup of tea… it’s the little things that we do for ourselves that are the “princess moments.”  At the end of the day, I’ll draw a name from all  that have posted and the winner will get a book from my backlist.

Please write to me at nrobardsthompson@yahoo.com and tell me what you think of Accidental Princess.  I can’t wait to hear from you!

  1. Shana Galen Says:

Hey nancy! I’m all for the inner princess. I like to paint my toenails or light candles or just snuggle up with a good book (and let my husband cook). Better yet, we go out to eat!

  2. Nancy Robards Thompson Says:

Here’s to men who cook! That’s how my husband won my heart! Thanks for posting, Shana. I hope life is getting back to normal — or at least close to it - after the hurricane.

  3. Devon Ellington Says:

Congrats on the book! It sounds great.

For me, honoring the inner princess is not about luxury — it’s about responsibility, my responsibility to make my little corner of the world the best it can be, be it a random act of kindness or advocating on something like tenants’ rights.

  4. catslady Says:

My time at night to read is the one thing I insist on. I used to get a hard time over having a light on so I switched to a little reading light.

    I love the cover!

  5. Maureen Says:

What a lovely cover. My princess moments are when I take some time to read. I could, of course, be working on the endless housework or laundry but reading is such a nice break.

  6. Fedora Says:

Congratulations, Nancy! How exciting for you! Hope you’re honoring your inner princess with a celebration of your own! :)

I’m with Maureen, I make time for my princess with reading time–nothing says me-time like a good book!

  7. Jane Says:

    Hi Nancy,
I honor my inner princess by giving myself a mani/pedi and taking a nice long bath.

  8. Quilt Lady Says:

Hi Nancy, I honor my inner princess every evening, by taking a long shower and then I sat down every night before I go to bed and read a good book. I call it my winding down time.

  9. Nancy Robards Thompson Says:

Devon, how beautiful! Thank you for making the world a better place.

Catslady, Maureen, Fedora, and Quilt Lady, I’m so glad you protect your reading time. What a wonderful way to treat yourself to some much-deserved relaxation. It’s so easy to let life get in the way of what makes you happy. I’m glad to hear you’re protecting what’s important to you.

Jane, mani-pedi’s are a great way to treat yourself. I always walk a little taller when my hands are presentable and my toes are polished. After I finish a book I’ll give myself a paraffin wax treatment – or heat up some lavender-scented hand mitts my sweet DH gave me. Sometimes my hands are a little achy after typing for long periods and the heat helps.

  10. Nancy Robards Thompson Says:

    AND THE WINNER IS…..

Thank you all so much for sharing your princess moments today. It’s been great fun talking about them. If you read Accidental Princess, I hope you’ll drop me a line and let me know what you think of it. I’ve contracted with Silhouette Special Edition to write three more books in this series!

So without further adieu, I will draw a name for the book I promised to give away. And the winner is…CatsLady! Congratulations! Will you please e-mail your mailing address to me at nrobardsthompson@yahoo.com and I’ll send you a book.

Keep checking the Quills blog. My sisters and I will be holding more contests soon.

    Cheers!
    Nancy

  11. Debbie Pfeiffer Says:

I’m slow to comment, but I can’t wait to read this book!

I think my princess moments are when I let myself indulge in doing those things I maybe didn’t allow myself to do anymore when I was started trying to be more grown-up, like your heroine Sophie. Like honoring my inner princess by indulging in a pair of cute girly dancer print Converse-style tennies–on sale! Viva la diva!
