Please Welcome Olivia Parker
Written by Jaunty Guest in Jaunty PostGreetings to all! First, let me thank Margo Maguire, she of the fabulously hot new cover that I just LOVE, for asking me to be a guest today. Thank you, Margo!

In June of this year, Avon released my debut historical romance. It wasn’t until the book had been out for a couple of months that I realized how the relationship of the hero and heroine closely mirrored me and my husband’s - not the love scenes, mind you, the courtship. I admit nothing!
Anyway, if I may, I’d like to share a (rather embarrassing) story with you.
About fourteen years ago, I had a date with this quiet, sexy guy, who I had liked for a long time, only he never wanted to date nice girls like me, only tramps … er, sorry. I digress.
One day, he actually wanted to try a good girl for a change. And so, dressed in a little black sweater, jeans, and boots, I hoped he wouldn’t be able to keep his eyes off of me. Unbeknownst to me, my bootlaces became untied as we walked up to the movie theater. Smiling up at him, I stepped on my laces and pitched forward, and strangely, right into his arms. I was never so embarrassed. Even the people walking behind us burst out laughing. Of course, he made me feel better by cheekily suggesting that I did it on purpose in order to end up in his arms.
Oddly enough, I married that man. And he has since experienced many more of my embarrassing moments.
My heroine, Madelyn Haywood,k from my debut historical romance, At The Bride Hunt Ball, is like me in that aspect. Clumsy, and readily embarrassed, but she somehow manages to charm the only man that matters. Even if he is so arrogant to believe she does these things on purpose to attract his attention.
So, what about you? Do you have any embarrassing moments you’d like to share?

Shana Galen Says:
Hi Olivia! Welcome! I can be rather uncoordinated. I fall when I’m running a lot. Do I ever do this when I’m alone? No. It’s always on a crowded running trail, and then everyone feels they have to stop and make sure I’m okay. Actually, one time I wasn’t. I split my lip and have a scar from it. But no one was around that day!
Devon Ellington Says:
I have many embarrassing moments, but a sense of humor always helps, doesn’t it?
Dorothy Says:
Hi Olivia. I’ve had many embarassing moments. I just try to pick myself up and go on. A sense of humor helps, thank goodness.
I wanted to add that I ready your book and enjoyed it immensely.
Shirley Karr Says:
Welcome, Olivia! Yep, a sense of humor definitely helps. I can’t quite carry off the aloof look my cats give that they meant to do that, whatever it was.
Margo Maguire Says:
Hi Olivia - so glad you could join us today! What a great cover.
And no — my embarrassing moments are much too embarrassing to share! LOL
Olivia Parker Says:
Hi Shana Galen! Thanks for sharing!
That’s so nice that someone stops to check if you’re okay . . . instead of busting a gut laughing as in my case.
Olivia Parker Says:
Hi Devon Ellington!
Yes, never taking oneself very seriously helps tons.
Olivia Parker Says:
Hi Dorothy!
Very good advice . . . and I’m glad to hear you enjoyed my book!
Olivia Parker Says:
Hi Shirley Karr!
Yeah, cats have this coolness about them . . . even when they’re clumsy they come off looking like they planned it all along. Even when, say, they fall through the ceiling because their big butts finally broke down the ceiling panels.
Olivia Parker Says:
Hi Margo Maguire!
Thanks so much for having me!This blog is filled with wonderful entries. I especially enjoyed the “What’s the worst thing that’s ever been in your pants?” article.
Thank you for saying you liked my cover. YOUR cover is gorgeous! Holy Moly–I love it, love it!
Amy Says:
Hello Olivia…
You know that I adore your book…LOL I work at UPS and am in the trailers and once while I was unloading I stepped back and missed the flap and actually did that windmill thing with my arms trying to keep myself up, however, it didn’t work and I ended up flat on my…bottom. The guys I work with just put their heads down and kept working, but I saw all their sholders shaking. Even I have to admit it was kind of funny. So that is my latest funny. Laugh if it makes you feel better!!!!
Amy
Amy Says:
p.s. Hope you got the pictures o.k. Olivia!!!!
Quilt Lady Says:
There are time I go through that falling stage and it is always when there are a lot of people around. Things don’t happen like that when you are alone. You just have to laugh about it and go on.
Fedora Says:
Hi, Olivia! What a charming story! I’ve got lots of embarrassing moments (some from clumsiness, and others from clumsily sticking my foot into my mouth), but none have such a great happily-ever-after kind of ending
It’s true that having a sense of humor and humility help a great deal
I haven’t had the pleasure of reading At the Bride Hunt Ball yet, but am curious, what are you working on next?
Olivia Parker Says:
Hi Amy!
Yes, I did get the pictures and I love them.
Thank you for sending them to me. I hope you don’t think I’ve forgotten about you, it’s just that my mail is really backed-up while I’m racing to finish up my next book.
Thanks for sharing your giggle-worthy story! Hee-hee.
I worked in a warehouse for a short time once, spent all day pushing around boxes, wondering why some guys kept checking out my rear end. When I got home from work, I think I found out why–my pant were split right up to the waistline. Man, did they get a show. LOL
Olivia Parker Says:
Hi Quilt Lady!
I whole-heartedly agree.
Olivia Parker Says:
Hi Fedora!
I honestly can’t believe what he saw in me. Prior to our first date, we were aquaintences, and each time we talked I tripped over my words or uttered completely moronic things! Made him laugh, though.
Right now, I’m working on a friends before lovers themed book that involves characters from my first book. Thanks for asking!
Fedora Says:
Ooh, very cool, Olivia! Love the friends-to-lovers theme! Can’t wait for that
Kristan Higgins Says:
Congratulations, Olivia! Can’t wait to read the book. As for embarrassing moments, well, my life is carved out of them. Too many to name, alas.
