Hero material
Written by RobynDeHart in Jaunty PostSince we’re right upon the season of love it seemed appropriate to think about the heroes we fall in love with every time we pick up a new romance novel. I know it happens to me with every hero I create. They’re all special in their own way, with their own unique sexiness. So without further ado, I offer you some prime hero material for your viewing pleasure.

So how about you, what do you like in your hero? Real or fictional?

brownone Says:
Johnny Depp…and St. Vincent from Lisa Kleypas’s “Devil in Winter”. Yum!
ladydawgfan Says:
[dreamy sigh] Not that I’m complaining, though!!!

Haven Rich Says:
I’ll take an order of 6 with a side of 1 please…
Oh and Brandon Fraser as desert :D.
Margo Maguire Says:
Well, hey … What can anyone say after all that!
Here’s one thing: He’s got to have a sense of humor. Without it, all the rest is just window dressing.
AndreaW Says:
Um, Robyn? Where’s Christian? My hero list wouldn’t be complete without Christian Bale. *sigh*
Totally agree with Margo . . . he must have a sense of humor. My husband is so hilarious and has such a quick wit.
Dorothy Says:
I agree with the humor. Gotta have the sense of humor. And I’ll take the guy in the British Naval uniform up there!! Woohoo…gotta love a guy in uniform. Or a guy in pirate gear…or a guy in riding breeches….well….you get the idea, right?
PJ Says:
Oh my!
What a lovely pre-Valentines surprise.
Any one of those delicious gentlemen will do just fine.
My top three qualities would be sense of humor, intelligence and compassion.

Kathryn Says:
Ooof, nice selection Robyn, but I agree that Johnny Depp is missing and it wouldn’t hurt to include Viggo Mortenson either (I just watched 28 Days and he was stunning, almost as much as in his Lord of the Rings incarnation).
And yes, sense of humour is a must have and thoughtfulness too.
Robyn DeHart Says:
I hear ya, ladies. Johnny isn’t really missing. These pictures represent either upcoming heroes for me or potential heroes. I’ve already used Johnny once and while I suspect once won’t be enough, he hasn’t reappeared just yet. But I do have a delectable picture of him on my website on the Courting Claudia page.
Mary M Says:
I love confident masculinity.
Taryn Raye Says:
Matthew McConaughey is who I think my hero in my current WIP looks like.
In one of my finished ones, I imagined the guy who plays E.J./Santos on Days of Our Lives as my hero.
I’ve also used Tom Welling as my “dream hero” in another because of his dark hair and really blue eyes. Wow, those eyes!
Sense of humor, loyalty, strength of character and intelligence are musts!
