Good luck. Glad to hear she is improving. At least she is eating on her own as Pippin did not. It was a messy fight several times a day trying to force feed him.

Oh, Kathryn, I'm so sorry about Pippin. You made the right decision. I can see how a cat would suffer a lot from this.

Roxie is doing better these last few days. We got her some more Vetalog (Pepcid AC) to help with her nausea. She doesn't have jaundice, so that's a plus. I just keep praying she will eat more on her own.

Unfortunately, Pippin had to be euthanized after 3 months of struggling with the jaundice and lack of appetite caused by this syndrome. He was a beautiful, 3 year old Maine Coon cat. He became so weak he developed a huge abcess and we decided, based on quality of life, that his time had come. It was very hard and he is much missed. It was a decision supported by my wonderful vet as poor Pip was just getting weaker and sicker. We decided against the implanted feeding tube and he just could not keep anything down.

Kathryn, it's so nicne to hear from someone who's been through this, too. I hope your kitty recovered fully. Mine seems better today. She doesn't hate me...yet.

Hi Shana, so sorry to hear about your cat. I have had experience with this same disease and it is tough. Hope your cat pulls through. The force feeding is hard, but if it works she should pull through, it's just a long road.

We went through something similar this spring with Dakarai -- it was so painful I don't think I was able to blog about it. I had to give him a shot three times a week and pills twice a day, and his chances were pretty slim. But his body seems to have adapted and he's still with us, and in fact helped Derby knock down the Christmas tree this morning.

Don't give up on her, Shane, it does get easier. Until they get better, and then it's even harder to pill them.

Thank you everyone for your sweet comments. I didn't think anyone checked the blog on Sundays! I especially appreciate the comments because Roxie took a bad turn last night and we were up with her for most of it. She seems a little better today. You're right, catslady, it's a day by day thing.
