Favorite holiday food
Written by Cindy Kirk in Jaunty PostI’m not much of a cook but I always look forward to the holidays because most of my family are good cooks.
I love almost everything they make. With Thanksgiving less than a week away, I started to wonder if my daughter (who is hosting Thankgiving this year) would be making my favorite food– Stove Top Stuffing.
Don’t laugh…I love the stuff. Even more than home-made stuffing. I also love those canned sweet potatoes (can’t remember the brand)
As you can tell, it doesn’t take much to make me happy.
The thing is Wendy, my daughter, loves to make everything from scratch and is a great cook….so I’m sure that if there is stuffing, it won’t be Stove Top
What about you? Anything in particular you’re craving this year?
And….what do you think of Stove Top stuffing???

Margo Maguire Says:
LOL, Cindy - I prefer StoveTop stuffing to the real “stuff” too! I’m actually thinking of making a batch and putting it aside on T-giving day. It will depend on whether I have enough space on my stove top to make it.
AndreaW Says:
Deep fried turkey! I absolutely LOVE it. And my peanut butter pie. No stuffing for me.
Shana Says:
Love Stove Top stuffing! I could eat a whole box myself! I’m also craving pumpkin pie. I’m making it this year. Eggnog is a favorite, too. Thank good ness for Starbucks where I can get a sneak preview of all my favorites with eggnog and pumpkin spice lattes.
Helen Says:
This all sounds wonderful of course we don’t celebrate thanksgiving here in Australia so you will have to have some for me and enjoy.
Have Fun
Helen

I love Stove Top stuffing but not for Thanksgiving. We Southerners do dressing instead of stuffing anyway.
I brine my turkey now and it gets rave reviews, if I do say so myself. We also have deep fried turkey and I love to nibble on the skin.
My sister’s cranberry cream cheese bars are a must and I’ve learned a new recipe for mashed potatoes that actually tastes good the next day. Cuts down on the Thanksgiving kitchen chaos.
AndreaW, you mentioning peanut butter pie has reminded me of a recipe that I’ve been wanting to try: Nutter Butter cookie peanut butter pie. Might have to do that if I have time.
I guess I better get cooking, huh?
HAPPY THANKSGIVING!!! and Helen? Counting our blessings is a good thing to do any day of the year. It’s just that if we ate like this every time we gave thanks, the U.S.A. would soon sink into the sea. Hmmm, maybe that’s what happened to Atlantis?!?

I prefer the homemade but still like Stovetop stuffing. I have a daughter that won’t eat any stuffing - can you imagine!
Taryn Raye Says:
I love Stove Top too, though growing up, my grandma would use Stove Top, but also add her own ingredients to make a huge batch of it for the family. She would make homemade biscuits and crumble them up and add them along with more seasonings and such…boy I miss her!
I’m looking forward to the stuffing at my parents’. My mom still makes the stuffing like my grandma- and homemade turkey gravy to go on top with bits of the turkey in it…Yum Yum.
I also love my sister’s sweet potato casserole with coconut, pecans and brown sugar and butter(Is the brand you’re thinking of Bruce’s Yams?)
But yeah, stuffing is on the top of my “can’t wait” list! (My kids snub their noses at it…shame shame shame…don’t know what’s wrong with them! LOL)
Haven Rich Says:
I know I’m late, but have you tried Stove Top with Cranberries? Oh my gosh it’s good!!!
Cindy Kirk Says:
Thanks for all the comments reassuring me that my love affair with Stove Top Stuffing is completely normal!! And my mouth is watering over all the other wonderful food that was mentioned…Taryn’s sweet potato casserole with coconut, stov…Jackie’s cranberry cream cheese bars and Andrea’s deep fried turkey (I’m really going to have to try this some day)..
All these wonderful foods make me think we should do a recipe exchange around Christmas time???
