Hatitude
Written by Cindy Kirk in Jaunty PostLast night I went to a play with some friends. It was called “Crowns” and much of the storyline touched on “hats” I’d never thought much about hats….or more specifically women wearing hats…but as I was watching, I started thinking….what if hats came back in style?
I can’t remember a time when hats “were” in style. I can remember cloth headbands, plastic headbands and winter hats….but the closest that I come to wearing a hat with a dress was Easter Sunday when I was a child.
I was thinking it’s about time for hats to make a comeback. Not the real fancy ones of a bygone era…but fun hats that would look great with casual attire. I admit that if they did come back, I’d give ‘em a try.
How about you? Would you be interested in wearing a hat? Or, is there some other fashion that you’d like to see make a comeback? Fishnet nylons? Tent dresses? Leggings? Or maybe it’s not a fashion thing….maybe you’d like to see big bangs come back….or white eyeliner…
C’mon….spill…we won’t laugh…at least not very loudly.

I’ve never really paid all that much attention to clothing trends. (Yes, I can hear my sister–the fashionista–laughing wildly in the background.) I couldn’t even tell you if I’m a winter or an autumn, LOL. I still have t-shirts in my closet that I wore in high school!
The few fads I can remember are not ones that I would like to see come back. Big hair, neon colors, pin-striped jeans, leggings… At the time, I think I pretty much ignored their existence and I shudder at the thought of them coming back. Give me sweats or jeans and a t-shirt and I’m content.

I wore hats in high school. It was kind of popular among the New Wave set. I think my friends and I saw fans wearing them in 101, the Depeche Mode movie, and we went right out and bought them. They were popular in the 80s.
Would I wear them now? No. It’s too hot in Houston.

I used to wear hats once in a blue moon. They weren’t allowed in school though. I used to rock the footless leggings with the babydoll top! Ah…the 90’s….
Mary M Says:
Victoria’s Secret carries fun fishnet stockings during the holidays. I like fun stockings.

We had a hat as part of our school uniform (back in the 70’s) but they are long gone now I really like the style of hats that were worn during the 1940’s with net on the front I thought they were really nice but I don’t think that hats suit me but I do wear hats when I am out in the sun although they are not a fashion thing.
Have Fun

Margo Maguire Says:
I’ve never been into hats … And I can’t think of any fashion thing I’d like to see again. Actually, I hope we don’t get more formal again. I like having the ability to dress down for most everything.
Haven Rich Says:
As for trends that have sorta come back..I like clothing that’s more “rockabilly”. The dresses are always so old Hollywood diva-ish hehe. They had great hats back then too.
