TV or Not TV
Written by Margo Maguire in Jaunty PostI don’t watch much TV. Somehow, there just isn’t time for it!
I try to catch the local weather report during Good Morning America, so I know what to expect during the day. Then I spend the day working, and I have so much reading to do in the evenings that I rarely even think of turning on the tube.
But if I do, I like to watch CSI. The Las Vegas one. The other two are ok, but I really like Gil Grissom (below) and his team. Gil isn’t the kind of hero I usually write about. He’s a science geek (so is my husband, although Mike is much much cuter :)) so maybe that’s the appeal.

Did you know that the CSI actor who plays Warrick was a main character in one of the Alien movies? (Alien Resurrection, I think). This is him - Gary Dourdan. Great eyes.

I’ve also caught several episodes of Planet Earth on Discovery. I saw the whole collection at the bookstore the other day and I think I just might have to buy it for Christmas. This whole series is beautifully filmed, and covers a number of fascinating aspects of the planet. If you get a chance to see it (maybe rent it?) I highly recommend it.

I saw the old movie, Rebecca, the other day. It’s based on the Daphne duMaurier novel of the same name and it really holds up. Some of those vintage films are wonderful forever, and some just don’t quite make it. (Like most films made in the 70s :))
So those are my unremarkable TV interests. What do you think will captivate you this season?

AndreaW Says:
I don’t watch much TV, but I love Law & Order: SVU and CSI (Las Vegas). These two I watch faithfully. And then I also watch American Idol when it starts in January.
Robyn DeHart Says:
I’m a faithful Grey’s Anatomy and Criminal Minds watcher, but I’m concerned about both shows with key cast members leaving. So we’ll see if I still watch them. I am intrigued by the previews of the new CBS show Moonlight about a smart-mouthed vampire who, I believe, hunts bad vampires. I’m not the key audience for paranormal, but since The Dresden Files was canceled (jerks!) then I have a spot open. And since Private Practice is a spin-off of Grey’s and I like the character, I will probably try that one too. I tend to watch more TV now that I write full-time, but I still try to limit it so that I’m not watching stuff every night.
Millie Bullock Says:
CSI (Las Vegas only) is my only must see. Will be watching for the vampire one, Moonlight, just because I am still mourning the loss of Buffy and Angel from my viewing life (and the lead actor is really cute). The show I am totally jazzed for is “The War” the new Ken Burns PBS series about World War II.

I am going to have to wean my husband away from the history channel since I don’t watch much in the summer. But we do watch a lot of the discovery channel and that Plant Earth series was wonderful. Survivor is the one reality show that I’ve watched from the beginning but Dancing with the Stars sucked me in the last two seasons. I love CSI, Boston Legal, Greys, and NICS.
Helen Says:
I am with you Margo I don’t watch much TV either but I do love CSI (Las Vegas) Law & Order all of them and I love watching old movies I also must watch House other than that I read I have lots to read and enjoy that more.
Have Fun
Helen
Linda Says:
Well, umlike those of you that posted above me, I think my only free night is Saturday
I’m excited for CSI & CSI: Miami, Supernatural, Smallville (there’s some rumors going around that James Marsters will be guest starring again), Jericho, One Tree Hill, Desperate Housewives, The 4400 (which is new right now), Dancing With the Stars, and i’m sure that there are more I just can’t think of them.
Millie Bullock Says:
Add me for House and I would also be on board for Smallville if James Marsters maskes a return (although the fact that he doesn’t seem to have much of a career since Buffy breaks my heart).
Stacy S Says:
I love the series Heroes. There’s a few new ones that do sound pretty good. But I don’t watch alot of tv.
Shana Says:
I like How I Met Your Mother, and I will probably watch that new kelsey Grammar show. USF is excited about the cavemen show (from the Geico ads). Oh, and The Dog Whisperer. Can’t miss that.
Linda Says:
Oh, definately Heroes
I knew that I forgot one.
It is rather disappointing that James Marsters’ talent is just wasting away.
Although he is going to be doing a recurring/guest star role on Without A Trace this season. I’ll definately be checking those out as well.
Kimberly Logan Says:
Well, I’m sure you all already know I’m awaiting the return of Supernatural with bated breath. It will be interesting to see where they take things this season. Not to mention that Kim has been a very sad, sad gal without her Sam and Dean, LOL. Millie, if you enjoyed Buffy and Angel, you should give SPN a try. It more than filled the void for me.
Robyn, I’m looking forward to Criminal Minds as well, though I’m anxious to see how things work out without Mandy Patinkin. He was one of the main draws for me, so I’m pretty leery. And normally I would say Lost, but I wasn’t really sure what I thought about the way they ended things last season. We’ll have to see. Of course, it’s worth tuning in, just for Sawyer. Ahhhhh, Sawyer…
I’ll probably give Heroes more of a try this season, and I’m looking forward to new shows Moonlight, Journeyman, and The Bionic Woman.
ladydawgfan Says:
I’m looking forward to season 2 of Heroes, and the January Jane Austin-a-thon on PBS. There are a few other shows I will check out (some are regulars from last season), but these stand out for me.
