Wipe your keyboard and mouse day! Spring is peeking around the corner and the temperatures are (hopefully!) going to continue their upward trend. Get a head start and take a swipe over your computer peripherals!

Unplug your keyboard and wipe an anti-bacterial cloth or just a damp one over the top of each key. Don’t pour liquids onto the keyboard, just use a damp cloth. I don’t know about you guys and gals, but the right side of my keyboard gets way dirtier. Probably because I’m a righty and handle more things with my right hand.
Do the same with your mouse. A couple of swipes over the top should do it!
Here are some articles on how to clean your keyboard safely when you need more than a swipe – I suggest the moderate cleaning tips, unless you have really grunged your keyboard!

Love this, Anne. My keyboard is only a few months old and pretty clean, but since I’m always touching it, I’d like to keep it cleaner. All I needed was a reminder…

I don’t need a quiz to tell me my keyboard is probably a mess. I have a laptop and am on it like the whole time I’m awake. I am considering putting my desktop back up in my office so that I will work more in there and just use the laptop to give this little guy a rest every now and then. Thanks for the reminder to clean here too.

Thanks for the cleaning tips, Anne. I clean my keyboard and mouse almost everyday. There’s cat hair all over the place here – since Jaggers thinks she’s a writer too. I clean my keyboard and mouse at work about once a week, although, those should be clean at least once a day as well.

I’m feeling bad because I seem to have an aversion to dusting. Yes, I know I should and since I love my little laptop, I’ll give it a little once over.
(Although the dust from the rest of the house is going to make this difficult!)

My keyboards all are usually full of dust, crumbs and miscellaneous debris and my computer screen only gets dusted when it reaches the point where I can’t read the words anymore. I am not a dirty person by nature but I just never think to take the time to clean them. Fortunately, I am the only one who uses them so at least I am not lacing other people with my germs. And if a famine ever hits, I have those crumbs to fall back on. lol

EEEWWWWWWWWWWWWWW…and just in time, too. Last Friday I found spilled Coke on one of my keys. Except when I went to wipe it off it wouldn’t come off. Closer inspection revealed it was dried jelly…ewwwwwww again!

Great idea. I always run my vaccum cleaner hose over it because I too have cats and the hair is everywhere.
