Can All The Food Just Go Away? Please?
Written by Margo Maguire in Jaunty PostI know, I know - we’ve still got New Year’s to go. But there is so much food around here and everywhere I go - and I can’t resist all the great holiday treats. Well, obviously I do resist most of them, but it’s tough. And there’s even less time for exercise this week, too. So, with my sluggish metabolism, I’ve got to be really careful. New Year’s won’t be that difficult in terms of food. We’re going to the movies with another couple (Casino Royale!) and then out to dinner for fish - something elegant and low cal, so I’m safe there.
The week has been great in other respects. My husband had the time off from work so he was around a lot, and all my kids are home, so that’s been fun. We had a party on Wednesday night so we got to connect with a lot of friends that we only see once a year. I’ve been dabbling at writing - spending a lot of time mentally processing my next book instead of writing it, but when I start putting words on the pages, I’m hoping it’ll flow easily.
What have been your toughest challenges this week? And what’s your most important resolution for 2007?

My toughest challenge is staying sane with all three kids in the house arguing over toys. Yeah…being good for Santa lasted all of one day. I can’t wait until New Years is OVER! Thursday is SCHOOL!!!

My most important resolution is for me to take more “me” time. I deserve it! Being a mom is a 24-7 job!
Kimberly Logan Says:
Ugh, Margo, I feel your pain! Most of the leftovers from Christmas dinner went pretty quickly. It’s the sweets that seem to be lingering, and those are my fatal weakness. White chocolate covered Oreos, gingerbread cookies, spice cake. Yum! I’ll be dieting for months just to make up for the past few weeks!
Toughest challenge? Hmmm. Dealing with all of the crowds of shoppers returning Christmas gifts at exactly the same time that I was returning a couple of mine. Grumble grumble. And my most important resolution? To finish my next book early!
AndreaW Says:
Since we always eat at my parents’ house, they keep all of the leftovers, which is just fine with me. lol
Toughest challenge? Putting together my daughter’s “play kitchen” on Christmas Eve night. Next time, I’ll know not to wait until the last minute!
Resolution? Make more time to write and work on *my* book.
Rainy Says:
I only work three days a week, but sometimes they are long ones and I’m recupperating the rest of the week. But no excuses! My biggest challenge is getting to the keyboard and writing. And whether it’s being too busy or not at all busy, it’s a matter of plunking yourself (myself) down and just doing it.
Shana Says:
All the traveling is my challenge. All I do is pack, unpack, and laundry. I’m so tired of dashing to and fro (no snow in Texas).
I think my resolution is going to keep eating healthy and running.
Lacey Says:
I’m slouching around on the internet because I’m overfull. When will it end? Ahhhh! Must.be.skinny.for.National…
