Dreams Never Die (Just Like Desire)

Written by Jenna Petersen in Our Books

Christmas may be over, but I’m still receiving gifts! Yes, today is another Jaunty release day — MINE (Desire Never Dies)! But you probably already knew that if you’re a regular visitor here.

What you may not know just how much this means to me. Desire Never Dies is my third book written as Jenna Petersen for Avon since October 2005. And just a little more than two years ago, I was beginning to think this dream would never happen. But here I am, three books on the shelves and at least two more coming (as Jenna Petersen, we aren’t even talking about Jess Michaels).

If this is a real dream, don’t wake me.

I’m a big believer in dreams. Chasing them, working for them, listening to them and never giving up on them. In Desire Never Dies, I wrote a character, Anastasia Whittig, who had given up on her dreams. Her hopes. Her love. Even her life. I put her in a holding pattern, a place where she was comfortable, yet stagnant.

And then I blew up her world. I shook every foundation, broke all her rules and introduced her to a man, Lucas Tyler, who would expect everything from her that she was secretly capable of. In short, I gave her back her dreams.

In a few days, we’ll be embarking on a brand new year, a fresh start - a perfect time to take out some old dreams, dust them off and pursue them. Or find some new dreams and make them a reality. So, is there a dream you have that you’re pursuing? Or one you’d like to pursue again.

To quote from Pretty Woman, “What’s Your Dream?”

Congratulations, Jenna :D I’ve been wanting to know how Ana’s story unfolds since “FLWL”.

My dream is to write (which I’m doing) and to be published one day. I’m a firm believer in that dreams do come true as long as you don’t give up.
When I come across this question and give the answer I just mentioned I think of Walt Disney and his dream. It’s all started with a mouse and look at that dream now.

As soon as the crowd at the mall dies down I will be there picking up DND!! I can’t wait, I loved FLWL.

Oh, thank you guys so much! I actually saw the book today at Borders (which is usually the last place that stocks it, so that was surreal). I hope you can all find it and that you like it.

Isabel, definitely keep chasing that dream! The only way you’ll be certain not to ever sell is to quit writing. :)

Anyone else have a dream they want to share? Or one that came true?

    Jenna,
Congratulations! What a wonderful Christmas present to yourself and a great way to begin a new year.
Isabel, funny that you quote Walt Disney since I am typing on their computers on my break. If you want to understand true success it is in reading Walt Disney’s life story because he had many more downs than ups in his life for a long time, but he never stopped dreaming and thinking of new ideas.
My dream is the old one…To get serious about my writing. And I know by this time, it takes talent, but a lot more. It takes perservance. Years ago I belonged to a children writer’s group. Our leader was Karen Hesse (if you have kids you probably know her and she won the Newbury Award a few years back). She’d written for nine years but nada. Then one day, one book was published, then another and so on. I’d finished a book with the help of that group and got accepted by Karen’s agent. The book didn’t make the editor’s rounds and I guess I stopped believing and doing much writing. If I’d only kept at it, I know I would have published something by now.
So this year, it will be to renew my dream and perservere!

Congrats on your new release, Jenna!

Thanks again everyone! I’ve actually been busy today working on the revisions of SEDUCTION IS FOREVER (the third Lady Spy book) to return to my editor next week. So it’s been so nice to come on line between chapters and see your nice comments. :)

My professional dream is to publish my book. My personal dream is to live near a lake or the ocean where I can sit and write, and where I can take long walks to exercise my body and soul.
