Shana’s Halloween Pictures!

Written by Shana in Jaunty Post

Goth Shana

Ultimate Sportsfan and I went to a Halloween party on Saturday night, dressed as 80s Goth people. As you can see, I wore an original Depeche Mode concert T-shirt from 1988, tights in black and white, a jean skirt, and lots of makeup. I actually used to dress like this in high school, so it felt like déjà vu getting dressed. USF wore an AC/DC shirt we picked up at Target, black jeans, multi-colored hair, black eyeliner, and black nailpolish.

Goth USF

I think we pulled the whole look off pretty well.

The only thing at the party was that I felt like I’d gone as a nun. Is it just me or is Halloween suddenly all about sex? I mean, some of the costumes were just ridiculously revealing. I felt like I’d taken my husband to a peep show.

Anyone else feel like this is kind of a weird trend or are you all for sexy Halloween costumes?

Are you/did you dress up? What is/was your costume?

Love the pictures! I went to a Depeche Mode concert in 93 (I think it was 93). Great concert. I was not as cooly dressed as this though. Probably still had flannel on. ;)

  2. Isabel Says:

Party on! Love the pictures! I’m not dressing up this year. Actually this will be my second year in a row not dressing up. The last time I dressed up I was the Corpse Bride and Rich was the Grim Reaper.

  3. Shana Says:

93, Anne? Was that the Violator tour?

Isabel, love the Corpse Bride and Grim Reaper idea. Keeping that in mind for next year.

  4. Michelle the Merry Says:

I WILL be dressing up, as soon as my costume if finished. Tonight at 7 pm if I still don’t get a call from Carisa, then I’ll call her.

It’s a Rennaissance Faire costume, and I’m going to look dang good too! I’ll post pics after I get them developed. Hello one-hour developing! lol.

I LOVE Halloween, but I’m none too-keen on all the sexiness. I think that’s better off left inside the bedroom for roleplays. ;) I dressed as a punk rocker for two years in a row, then I was Cruella deVil last year. Nothing too spooky for me this year, I’m going all glam on me hehehe.

Michelle, I can’t wait to see pictures of your costume. I hope you post some of the Avon Board. The costume sounds beautiful.

Shane, I have one question…are those piercings real? Not that I don’t have a few of my own, but I was wondering haha.

Wonderful pictures and might I say that USF looks like Ben Moody (ex member of Evanescence) only with brownish hair instead.

Thank you for sharing the photos.

  7. Karen H in NC Says:

Shana, great costumes. I think you nailed it. My question too: are those piercings real? They look it…and the only thing missing are the nose & tongue piercings!!! LOL

  8. AndreaW Says:

Oh my gosh, Shana, those pictures are awesome! You guys look great! Kinda reminds me of when I was in school… ;)

I won’t be dressing up, but my kids are going to be pirates. Arrrr…

And I totally agree with you about Halloween becoming super sexy! When we went looking at Party City for costumes for the kids, they had a lot of sexier ones mixed throughout the teen/adult sections plus an entire section marked “HOT HOT HOT”. *shakes head*

  9. Shana Says:

No, the piercings aren’t real! They’re clip ons :-)

  10. Kimberly Logan Says:

The costumes are awesome, Shane! You both look great. :)

I’ve been waffling back and forth trying to decide between Sleeping Beauty and a tavern wench. I think the wench is going to win. There is just way too much itchy tulle to deal with on the Sleeping Beauty costume, and it’s so pink that I feel like a giant wad of bubble gum whenever I put it on. :)

    Great pics, Shana!
Although when I first so your legs, the white leg blended in so well with the curtain, it looked like you had one leg (I need new glasses). Thought you had kind of a gothic pirate thing going.
As I kid, it was always a gypsy for me. A scarf over the head, wild makeup, a long skirt. That was it. Now nobody would even notice I was dressed up as anything.
They’ve been talking about costumes being very sexy on tv lately. I suppose those that have it, flaunt it. I hate to see it on young kids though.

  12. Robyn DeHart Says:

    Shane, awesome pictures!

Kim, please be a tavern wench cause I just can’t picture you doing that and I must see pictures!!!
