The mystery continues…

We have done everything we can to uncover the identity of the mystery quill, to no avail. And Mr. Jaunty P. Quills is not helpful. This is what we get for allowing a porcupine this kind of power. Shana warned us not to give him access, but Kim and I were just so certain he’d do a good job. So alas, now we’re in a bit of a pickle.

But as it so happens, I know some amateur sleuths and I’ve enlisted some assistance at uncovering the mystery quill’s identity. They are pretty busy, but they worked me into their tight schedules, which is nice considering I created them. But whatever.

I gave them the clues and off they went. They’re back with their information now so without further ado, I give you the Ladies’ Amateur Sleuth Society.

We were rather excited to be given such an important task and feel most honored that you thought of us. It was a most difficult mystery and to be completely truthful, we could not agree on a single thing. In fact, Willow believes Meg and I have had complete leave of our senses. And Charlotte refused to participate all together, something about being denied a happy ending. Needless to say it was a difficult tast, but we were up for the challenge. We attempted first to put ourselves in the mindset of a porcupine, which admittedly is rather difficult. We have photographs of our findings and submit to you our proposed Mystery Quills.

nessie Legendary Loch Ness Monster?

Or did Mr. Quills go a bit more wild withbigfoot

Perhaps he was a bit more elegantunicorn

And if he were really crafty he might have securedausten

Thank you to the Jaunty Quills for giving us this opportunity, I do hope we’ve been of assistance.

Um….thanks, Amelia. I can’t believe Charlotte wouldn’t cooperate. That certainly doesn’t bode well for her upcoming book. Wow, I’m not really sure what to do with these suggestions. I mean they could certainly be right, we are talking about a porcupine here. But I’m fairly certain we’re really looking for an actual author here. Granted Jane Austen was an author, but unless some of the other Jaunties have skills I’m unaware of, I’m fairly certain none of us can speak to her. And I don’t have the heart to tell Amelia and the others that Jane has been gone for many years now. Well, it was worth a short, but I guess we’re on our own to solve this mystery. We need your help though, so keep the guesses coming because we’re just at a loss.

I do have it on good authority that with the unveiling of the mystery quill will come a great contest with a fabulous prize. So stay tuned for more clues and details as they become available.

I’ll never te-ell… I do like the idea of being a unicorn, though Nessie and Big Foot are a bit disturbing. I try to shave my back hair regularly…

I think the Mystery Quill is Julianne MacLean.

Well, you have to hand it to the ladies. They did their best to investigate. I sure hope the new Quill looks more like Jane Austen than Big Foot!

A question I’ve had for some time now..What exactly is the story of The Jaunty Quills. I’ve come across Mr. Quill and a porcupine, but can anyone tell me something more?

    Just curious.

Rainy, here’s the story of Jaunty P. Quills, Porcupine Extraordinaire…

He was a homeless porcupine we took in as a site mascot, but we soon discovered he had an insatiable desire for
romance novels and a bit of an inflated ego. Before we knew it, he was getting into all sorts of trouble–hijacking our computers,
interviewing guest bloggers, inviting new Quills.

We try not to encourage him by giving him attention, but just for
you, Rainy, we’ll repost the stats he gave in his first blog, months ago. In his own words…

NAME: Jaunty P. Quills, Porcupine Extraordinaire
    AGE: 11 months
AGE IN HUMAN YEARS: Like I’m going to tell you.
    FAVORITE FOOD: Chocolate covered ants
FAVORITE COLOR: Porcupines look good in gray.
FAVORITE MOVIE: Anything that makes my quills stand on end.
FAVORITE AUTHOR: I’m open to bribes…any takers?
FAVORITE BOOKS: SINS OF THE PORCUPINE, NO MAN’S PORCUPINE, DELICIOUSLY WICKED PORCUPINE, KISS FROM A PORCUPINE, THE PORCUPINE’S WICKED WAYS, THE PERFECT PORCUPINE, ROMANCING THE PORCUPINE (he has an advance reading copy of this one in his paws)

Hey, that sounds like my kind of Porcupine! Thanks for the info, Shana.
Unfortunately, I couldn’t find any of his books anywhere. Do you think we can get any out of his paws? “Kiss From a Porcupine” sounds especially intriguing.

Yayyy, now I’m really glad I brought that to your attention ladies!

As for the great debate on who the new Quill is, I still hold strong to my claim of Jenna Petersen. But I look forward to whom ever ya’ll bring in, as she will be a most welcome member of the Quill family.

I think we should plead temporary insanity, Robyn. It’s obvious we couldn’t have been in our right minds. Note to self: Never let an egocentric porcupine do a Quill’s job…

Wow, Shana, look what you helped put in motion! Never underestimate the power of 9,000 ticked-off women. “I read romance, and I vote.”
