Cindy, that is so strange. The husband and I got married in 2001, in a little chapel that was actually in “Intolerable Cruelity”, The Wee Kirk O’Heather or something like that.

What’s really strange is my aunt got married there some many years ago (which I didn’t know until afterwards) and then I did too.

Before we got married, but husband used to always win on scratch tickets and when there were pop twist offs (one summer he got by only buying one Coke. He kept winning free ones with every new one, so he never had to buy another one).

Anyway, after we got married… I totally killed his luck. True story. Hardly ever wins with scratch tickets, never wins with twist caps. Sad. I’m a luck killer.

But my life, in general, is a pretty charmed one, so I can’t complain if I don’t win the lotto.

Thanks for the congrats. I may have been in the chapel you got married in… In 2001 when I was researching a book, my husband and I went through almost every wedding chapel on the strip. The book I wrote, Wedding Bell Blues, won the Booksellers Best (best inspirational) in 2002

I’m a member of the little luck club hehe. I do from time to time have good luck on winning authors contests but when they put up the big prizes, do I win? No. Of course, I’m perfectly happy not winning the gold earrings or some fancy chocolate…I’d prefer winning 2nd place, which is typically the signed book hehe.

So I suppose I am lucky in the fact that I don’t typically win things I don’t want lol. Now if that only worked on the lotto, I’d be set haha.

I think luck is in the eye of the beholder…someone who might win small things might consider themselves on the top of the world or they may think they will never will the big stuff..its all a matter of view point.

And I love the comments above and totally agree. And I’ve always loved this phrase ~ I may not be lucky, but I’m lucky in love.

BTW Cindy congrats on your daughters wedding. My husband and I stayed at the Ceasar when we got married (but it was up the strip in one of those little white chapels hehe).

I have no luck at all. None! It’s a good thing that I don’t like to gamble because I would be very poor. But you’re right that good fortune can be measured in more ways than just contests and lotteries. Having great friends and a wonderful family is a fortunate thing indeed.

Andrea, I totally agree with you…I’d much rather be happy than really lucky.

Rainy, Your comment about not having one number on a lottery ticket made me smile–because that is exactly what my tickets look like.

I think everyone has a bit of luck every now and again…some more than others. But, I’d rather be happy than really lucky, and I am very happy.

I’m like you in many ways. Winning prizes or lotteries. Forget about it! In fact, if they awarded prizes for not getting one single number on a lottery ticket, I’d be a millionaire. My husband and I were in Vegas a few years ago and the only gain we had was in poundage from all the buffets.
But overall, I think life’s treated me well and I’m fortunate in that respect.
I checked the dictionary for the difference between lucky and fortunate.
“LUCKY- happening by chance. FORTUNATE-Receiving some unexpected good. FORTUNATE suggests being rewarded beyond one’s deserts. HAPPY combines the implications of LUCKY and FORTUNATE with stress on being blessed.”
So when I think of my life so far I do feel more blessed than lucky. Much love and joy tinged with some sadness and pain.
