Memorial Day

Written by Kimberly Logan in Jaunty Post

Well, the holiday I usually view as the official beginning of the summer season is fast approaching, and with it I find myself eager to get out and take part in some of the typical Memorial Day family traditions. Picnics in the backyard, swimming in the family pool, a Bridgerton-esque game of croquet…(Okay, so maybe there isn’t as much blood-shed in our version of croquet as there is in Julia Quinn’s, but we certainly take no prisoners!) Maybe it’s the weeks of being cooped up slaving over my current work in progress, but I find that I am more ready for summer this year than I can remember being since I was a kid in school.

Unfortunately, it looks like the weather around here may not cooperate. The forecast is for stormy skies, so I may have to settle for going to a weekend matinee of X-Men 3. Although I suppose that’s a pretty good trade-off. Hugh Jackman anyone? Although the hero in my latest book, Gabriel, is blond instead of dark-haired like Hugh, one takes one’s inspiration where one can. ;)

So what are your plans for the long holiday weekend? Are you staying home? Traveling? Do tell so I can live vicariously. :)

We’re staying home, too. Having a bit of work done on the house, so there’s a lot to do here. Besides, I have three trips planned for this summer, two with my husband.

But I’m doing a neighborhood barbeque - ribs and corn, anyone?

We’re staying home–thank God! I am so tired of running around. It’s my sister’s birthday, so she’s having a big dinner on Friday and then I think we’re going bowling with some friends on Saturday. Relaxing, fun, not too stressful.

Yep, staying home. I was hoping to get some writing done, but my bf has a tendency to go stir-crazy and force me to leave the house. Which requires showering and changing my clothes…ugh. What was that blog about having a life?

Ditto, staying home. I hate traveling on holidays…too many loony-toons drivers out there for my taste. My weekend will be spent doing my favorite thing..reading! And Kim, I just started reading your book ‘A Kiss in the Dark’ last night; only about 75 pages into it but I am loving it. Should finish it and ‘A Kiss Before Dawn’ this weekend. I think this a great way to spend a long weekend…of course, I’m retired, so every weekend is a long one for me. LOL

But whatever you do, wishing everyone here a pleasant & safe holiday weekend! Weather here is suppose to be hot & sunny to partly cloudy all weekend.

I’m so glad you are enjoying AKITD, Karen. I hope you enjoy AKBD as much. :)

Yep, I made sure to work some reading time into my holiday weekend schedule. There’s nothing like escaping the gloomy weather outside by delving into a good book! We had some pretty bad storms go through here last night, but all is bright and sunny this morning.
