Yup, that’s me at the Grand Canyon. Yup, that’s my book at the Grand Canyon below. Yup, I’m a nerd.
I’m thinking of toting one of my books around to see the world. Kinda like the Travelocity gnome. I’ve always wanted one of those guys.
But onto more serious matters, on Friday I got a chance to visit the Grand Canyon, something I’ve always wanted to do. We have talked about where in the world we would go if we had the chance/time/resources, but where in the States (or your home country) do you long to visit? There are so many cool places to go and adventures to try, all within a day or two’s drive.
So which place at “home” is at the top of your list? Anywhere is fair game — somewhere that you haven’t been or an old favorite awaiting your return. The Pacific Ocean? Carlsbad Caverns? The Grand Canyon? The Mall of America? New York City? Cedar Point? Disney World/Land? Boundary Waters? And if you have a favorite picture online from a previous adventure, stick a link in the comments and let us oooh and ahhh over you!

Anne, in Feb. I went with my mom and sister across country to go visit my grandma (who was turning 70). Along the way we stopped at a few awesome natural sites…Grand Canyon being one of them. We also stopped at the Petrified Forest, it was also cool.
I promise to post a link on my blog when I remember to take the film into Wal-mart.
Since I (currently) live in Texas almost everything is within a two day driving distance.
As for the places I want to visit: (here in the states)
Salem, Pa
San Fran, Cali to see the Golden Gate Bridge (I have a thing with bridges)
anywhere in Hawaii
London Bridge (I forget where it’s at exactly and no it’s not the one in London lol)
and it wouldn’t hurt my feelings to go to Disney World
(out of the states)
I want to see Canada, Japan, Ireland, England, Australia, Scotland, St Thomas(which is sorta the U.S.~ U.S. Virgin Islands hehe)
Ok now that my bags are packed, which one are we visiting first???

I want to go back to the Grand Canyon, San Francisco and NYC, but I’ve never seen the Pacific Northwest, Monument Valley or Maine, so they’re at the top of my list.

I love, love, love New York City. I’m going back in September. My husband and I went on a trip to the Oregon coast when we still lived in Seattle and it was really nice. We were just in the Bahamas in February and that was a great trip. I’d love to go back there. I also really enjoy D.C. and Philadelphia.
Anne, I like the idea of your books being like the Travelocity Gnome! You know I thought about doing a promo like that for FROM LONDON WITH LOVE. You know, have readers take a picture of themselves and the book at a place and wmail it to me with the subject:
From Albequerque With Love
From Birmingham With Love
From Brooklyn With Love
From Whereever With Love
But I never went anywhere with it. Because I’m lazy. LOL

Anne, you look lovely ((hugs))
I take books with me while on vacation. I actually have the picture of a book I read while sipping a Tequila Sunrise at the hotel’s bar in Hawaii back in Jan.

How fun! I’ve always wanted to visit the Grand Canyon too. There are so many places I want to visit — Alaska is a dream, and I have this goal of visiting every unit in the National Park system. Yellowstone is my favorite so far, but I really want to see Yosemite. The Great Smoky Mountains NP is beautiful too, and luckily it’s only 3 hours away.

Hey everyone! Sorry for not responding earlier. We *just* got in after driving 17 hours. Whew. We did make a quick detour to the Petrified Forest today, and I agree with Haven — very cool!!
Haven, can’t wait to see your pics!
Jenna, I’ll try to get a “From San Francisco” or “From the Golden Gate” pic in August for you. We’ll try to tempt Haven out here with it.
Mary, I once had to drive the length of Oregon (north to south) and it’s GORGEOUS. I highly recommend a road trip through the state when you get to the Pacific NW!
Shana, the book thought it was marvelous. I took all of the books, since we were driving and had room — so I have pics of each. I’m a nerd, re: above. Masquerading was the happiest because of the color scheme. I got a matching pic at the Petrified Forest today and am hoping it turned out.
*stares at Isabel jealously and mutters about Hawaii…*
Oooh, Lacey, Mt St. Helens! I’ve only seen it from afar. Would love to trip over there.
Trish, get your buns over here. We’ll Yosemite. (Anne pronounciation: YO-sam-ite) RWA 2008 is the perfect opportunity to explore, if you don’t get out this way sooner.

Anne, I’m thinking of doing the Yosemite thing in 2008. Gee, I sure hope I sell a book by then. Maybe I could take a picture of it hiking through Yosemite.

Anne, that is no fair. Wave a nice tasty treat in front of me and I know I can’t have it. One thing has me wondering though, who’s couch would I be crashing if I came to visit haha.
Truthfully Anne, glad you had a great time.
